ST ELMO

Dear St. Elmo,

I appreciate your concern, but I hasten to assure you that there is no need for perturbation. I have become quite a ladies man, and will unmask the umbrella until a walking nightstick surpasses me.

I'm quite happy here, really I am. I'm really quite comfortable. The building is warm and has anything I need. All I have to do is look for it and there it is.

Occasionally a visitor will drop in. I don't understand why they visit, as I do not know them, but I am glad that they do, and, as they do not stay, I have not asked. Usually they stay for coffee, but sometimes desert. Occasionally we have tea and toast instead.

I now live in an old stone building. I didn't before, not that I can recall. I guess you could say I work here, but you couldn't call it work really.

I came upon this job one day, if you could call it that, while looking at a ragged moon. Then suddenly I was in front of this old stone building, and I walked inside. I liked it so much, I haven't gone outside since, and have no intentions of ever so doing, although one is sometimes inclined to wonder what one is missing.

There's another thing. This building is much bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. I still haven't figured that one out.

Best regards,

nowise I am remaining.

Magdum
